Linocut is a form of relief printing that uses linoleum as the printing block. The smooth surface allows for ease of cutting using a variety of ‘U’ and ‘V’ shaped gouges to cut lines, shapes and textures. Any part of the design not to be printed are then cut away, leaving the image raised in relief, this is then inked with a roller. The ink sits on the relief of the lino and is transferred onto the paper by rubbing on the back by hand or by using a printing press.
Some of my linocut prints are hand coloured, this happens after the prints have dried. There are always slight variations therefore each print is individual.
